MVW at Slakterinettverket: Compliance with BAT-AEL, Step by Step

Last week, MVW, represented by our Technical Manager, Sigve Lothe, and COO, Henrik Meland Madsen, attended Slakterinettverket in Stokmarknes.

“Slakterinettverket” was established in 2021 by NCE Aquatech Cluster as a platform for dialogue and knowledge-sharing among slaughterhouses, as well as an arena for competence development. This year, MVW was pleased to be part of the presentation program. Together with Børge Holm from Holmøy Produkter, Henrik Meland Madsen shared their experiences with meeting the BAT-AEL requirements, providing insights from both a newly built slaughterhouse and a solution providers perspective. The event also included a site visit to Holmøy Produkter’s slaughterhouse in Sortland, where participants had the opportunity to see the water treatment solution in operation. Holmøy Produkter has been subject to EU emission requirements since the start of operations. Together with the slaughterhouse, MVW and Downstream Marine have developed a total solution that meets the BAT-AEL requirements, while also being practical and efficient to operate and enabling reliable monitoring of performance. It has been a valuable learning process, and we have gained practical experience and valuable insights along the way, which we were pleased to share with the participants.
